Holiday Cheer Parade

Are you interested in participating in Southlake’s first-ever Holiday Cheer Parade?

We are looking for imagination, uniqueness and, most of all…incredible decorating of your vehicle and booth space! Originality and creativity from our participants will help make the Holiday Cheer Parade a success. We encourage the use of lighted displays and festive decorations. Please review the following participation levels and feel free to contact us to discuss ideas.

Holiday Cheer Entry – Commercial

  • Three (3) Parking Spaces
  • Two (2) hours of set up time
$100

Polar Bear Entry – Non Profits

  • Three (3) Parking Spaces
  • Two (2) hours of set up time
$50

Snowman Entry – Clubs

  • One (1) Parking Space
  • Two (2) hours of set up time
$25

Gingerman Entry – Community Members

  • One (1) Parking Space
  • Two (2) hours of set up time
$25

All applications must be submitted by, Monday, November 30, 2020. You will be notified of your application approval status by, Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Before submitting your application, please review the following participation guidelines:


Things to Consider


All CDC guidelines will be in effect, and enforced, during the parade viewing time frames, including any staging, procession and performing opportunities.

  • At this point, we are not limiting the number of entries per organization nor the number of units within an entry. However, we retain the right to manage the number of entries and units as we see fit.

 

  • Performing groups may apply. However, we may not be able to accept groups due to CDC separation guidelines. We appreciate your interest and willingness to be flexible.

 

  • Larger vehicles such as firetrucks, busses or large trucks are limited to one per entry. Please note on your application your willingness to bring additional units to the parade

General Information


Fire Marshal Requirements for Participants
All applicants must review fire marshal requirements for displays prior to participation.


Commercial Entries:


Businesses may apply as parade participants and pay the appropriate commercial fee.

Entries may be sponsored by an individual business or businesses in a mutual association.

Logos or business names may be used on an entry.

 

  • The entry may not be used solely for advertising purposes and must keep with the holiday spirit of the parade.


Entry Construction or Production Expense:

 

There is no maximum limit in terms of costs or expenses to be incurred by participants to produce their entries. The use of ingenuity and creativity in the design and execution of an entry is encouraged and will be considered when the entry is judged.

Safety:

CDC Guidelines will be in effect for all participants and attendees. No more than six people of the same group may be within the dedicated booth space within the 6′ guidelines. Masks must be worn at all times.

Parade participants must follow the instructions of the City of Southlake’s Special Events Team/Parade Organizers and Police Officers during the parade — specific instructions will be provided. Failure to follow instructions will result in removal from the parade.

Any additions or changes made to entries after being accepted must be approved by the City of Southlake’s Special Events Team/Parade Organizers. Entries that have not been approved will not be allowed to participate in the parade.

The parade will take place rain or shine unless prohibited by dangerous weather conditions.

Alcoholic beverages and other controlled substances are forbidden during any parade activity. This includes setup and breakdown. Participants consuming said substances prior to or during the parade will not be allowed to participate. The Southlake Police Department will also be notified of any suspected intoxication or violation of this rule.

 

Electricity and Lighting

Lighting is encouraged for the displays. All lights should be LED.

Each booth space will have access to electricity with two outlets. Participants may bring their own extension cords for additional outlets.

No sirens, horns, or loud noises are permitted.

Judging Criteria

All entries will be judged by Southlake’s Mayor and Council. the following criteria will be used with an average numbering system between 1 and 10, with 10 being the highest score possible for a single entry:

Overall Lighting and Appearance (Outstanding display of showmanship and entertainment)

Holiday Spirit

Costumes

Originality and Creativity

Awards

Best in Show Award (Overall Winner)
